Philosophy
Stephanie has worked in multiple areas of mental health, but her real passion is goal directed therapy with children and adolescents. Just as it is easy to acknowledge that there are no perfect people, likewise, there are no perfect parents. Stephanie’s philosophy is that we are all doing the best we can with the knowledge and skills we currently have. It’s never too late to become the person and parent you want to be. With adequate guidance and commitment to the process, long-term change is possible. With love and compassion, she coaches parents how to be comfortable and confident in disciplining child/teen misbehaviors while increasing trust and attachment bonds along the way. Using creative techniques, kids are taught skills to improve their mental health in ways that are productive and fun, often without them realizing they are receiving therapy.
My Story
Stephanie graduated from Weber State University in 2014 with a Bachelor’s degree in Social Work with a minor in Child and Family Studies. She was president of the WSU Social Work Club, an Officer for the Child and Family Studies Student Association, and a member of the National Association of Social Workers Utah Board. While in her undergrad, she worked at the Family Support Center as a child care provider and interned at Head Start providing case management services. After graduating with her Bachelors degree, she was awarded Outstanding Student of the Year due to her strong academic and leadership history.
Stephanie received her Masters degree in Social Work from the University of Utah in 2015 after completing an accelerated program. Continuing her passion for leadership, she served on the University of Utah’s Masters of Social Work Student Association. She has also since pursued additional education and certification as a Parent Child Interaction Therapy (PCIT) therapist which is her current focus and specialty.
Having 10 years of experience in the field, Stephanie enjoys helping families create healthier relationships using the many skills and knowledge she has acquired. She is truly passionate about her work helping others, and remains involved helping future therapists as a volunteer on the Admission Committee for the University of Utah College of Social Work.
In her free time, Stephanie loves to unwind doing yoga, hiking, running, movie nights, paddle boarding, attending concerts, and spending time with her friends and family. She enjoys traveling and has been to a few interesting places around the world such as Mongolia and Columbia, but she especially wants to go to Iceland soon to learn more about her ancestors.
